THE PROJECT
The Cesca chair was conceived in 1929 by Marcel Breuer, based on the first cantilevered steel tube frame designed by Mart Stam, the "Model S32."
The combination of a steel frame with a wood and straw seat and back, a Thonet tradition, gave a special elegance to the chair. It enjoyed great success starting in the 1960s with the "Gavina" brand, and continued with Knoll, which also developed the upholstered version. The name Cesca was given by Gavina in honor of the Hungarian master's daughter, Francesca.

OFFER DESCRIPTION
Cesca chair, designed by Marcel Breuer, with a chromed steel tube frame, machine-assembled Vienna straw seat and back, and a frame in natural beech or lacquered black, white, or walnut.
Walnut-stained or white-lacquered frames are priced at +10%.

NOTE
The steel tube ends are welded, but for "Contract" applications, cheaper chrome-plated plastic caps can be used.
"Vienna straw" is a strip of bamboo tape, approximately 2 mm wide and 1 mm thick, obtained from the outer part of the cane. The straw strands are joined together to create a continuous thread suitable for weaving. This can cause small defects due to overlapping of the material, or even color variations.
