PRODUCTS IN THICK COWHIDE LEATHER OR IN "PONY" LEATHER

For some items (MR Side Chair, Roquebrune Chair, Spoleto Chair, S33 Cantilever Chair, LC1 Bascule Backrest Chair, etc.), a replacement kit is shipped. In other cases, the item must be received before we can exchange it (e.g., Aluminum Group Chairs).
In accordance with the original products, replacement kits are available in full-grain leather, butt leather, or pony leather (cowhide with a soft, smooth nap, natural or dyed).
For contract professionals, a version in "reinforced leather," referred to here as "cuietto rigido," is also available. This may also be suitable for private individuals who own items for which the cost of full-grain leather is not worth it.
Explanatory Notes on Leather:
The tanner cuts cowhide into three parts:
- the upper part is used to tan the highest-quality leather known as "full-grain leather" (2.7-2.8 mm thick), whose surface grain is natural, or "butt" (3.2-3.4 mm thick).
- the middle part of the hide is buffed and then stamped with a grain pattern and marketed as "buffed leather" (2.6-2.7 mm thick).
- the lower part, called "split leather," is used to make "cuoietto" (leather), which is thinner (1.8-2.0 mm), and is generally used as an external covering for other materials. If used for load-bearing purposes, it requires reinforcement.

Bonded leather: This is not leather, as it is made from leather powder mixed with resins. Looks may be deceiving, but this material is short-lived and its use is certainly not recommended.

Wassily Chair

For the Wassily armchair, designed by Marcel Breuer, the customer must consider that replacing the kit is not easy to do (it takes two people and a tool that stretches the structure for disassembling and reassembling the armchair). It would be easier to send us the disassembled metal structure (cutting the leather harness): the assembly of the kit would be carried out by us with an additional cost of €30.00 each (in addition to the cost of return indicated in the estimate, plus 22% VAT).

The Fauteuil à dossier basculant armchair designed by Le Corbusier has undergone variations over time: it is therefore necessary to receive the old leathers or the measurements of the same. The replacement kit will be in lfull grain leather, pony or even in reinforced leather (leather).
